From forklift time and Super Tetris
What is it actually like to work at Oschatz-Glas? We talk to one of our colleagues every month to find out. Always a smile on her face, full of energy and motivated: That’s 20-year-old Sina Lailach!
Her always positive attitude is also due to the fact that she has found a job in our company as a warehouse logistics specialist that she simply enjoys. And a good 80% of her working time is spent on the forklift truck. She reveals more about herself in this interview:
Hi, Sina! How did you come to Oschatz-Glas?
Sina Lailach: It’s actually classic for my generation. I searched online and became aware of the vacancy. Then, fortunately, everything happened quite quickly. I had a great time training here and am now happy to be a skilled worker.
Did you have a hard time in the application process with us?
Sina Lailach: No, I can’t say that. It was just important to get across why I really wanted to learn the profession. As a passionate sportswoman, the physical strain of this apprenticeship didn’t bother me either. But at Oschatz-Glas, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a man or a woman anyway. It depends on what you can do and whether you are motivated.
What are your tasks with us?
Sina Lailach: I’m actually on the move all day. Logistics at Oschatz-Glas really means being on the move. I spend 80% of my time on my forklift truck. Loading and unloading trucks is my absolute favorite task. Super Tetris, so to speak. Of course, there are also lots of other smaller tasks: Making deliveries ready, labeling and possibly repacking goods, waste disposal and occasionally some cleaning work in the warehouse area.
Why the loading and unloading of trucks?
Sina Lailach: (laughs) It really is super Tetris sometimes! I love placing and arranging things precisely. That’s very important to keep the truck stable. But I’m also a very tidy person in my private life. Everything has to be nicely organized and in the right place.
What skills do you need for this job?
Sina Lailach: I think that a good grasp of things is important. But right after that, you shouldn’t be too soft-spoken either. As a logistics specialist, you’re always between forwarding, sales and production. It can always happen that the tone is a little rougher. But you shouldn’t take that home with you. It definitely helps to be a physically active person.
