Lightweight construction, resource efficiency and shorter cycle times combined with a constant increase in the level of characteristic values – these are just some of the demanding requirements of the 21st century composites industry.
GSO MultiFiber® as a new type of hybrid glass fiber opens up the possibility of cost-effectively and efficiently reinforcing components for a variety of traditional industries.
Description GSO MultiFibre®
Hybrid fibers and fabrics with a specifically adjustable ratio of glass to thermoplastic
Thermoplastics: Polypropylene – PP / Polyethylene terephthalate – PET
Markets
Tank and pipeline construction
Industrial applications – Profile production
Vehicle and lightweight construction
Aerospace
Advantages of GSO MultiFibre®
Thermoplastic is already included as a matrix material
Direct processing without the use of additional resin
Environmentally friendly – no solvent emissions
Higher cycle times in the production of semi-finished products and components
Increase in time, cost and personnel efficiency
Advantages over steel reinforcement – lighter and yet more robust
Significant weight reduction → easier handling and resource-saving (fuel-saving)
Higher mechanical load capacity, especially increased bending strength
Very good resistance to environmental influences – No thermal conductivity/expansion
Very good resistance to chemicals – no corrosion
